Huge Day Yesterday!

WOW! I am completely blown away by the response to Andromeda Rising! Tons of hits on the site, love and support on Facebook, and Twitter went wild! Thank you all so much.

I hope you stopped by Talk Supe and caught Joss’ interview on spells. She offered up a cleansing spell and a location spell. Hopefully Mateo didn’t find out and give her too hard a time about it.

Beckstar Reviews offered a brilliant review of Andromeda Rising.  I loved her insights into our heroine and laughed when she hinted at hopes for a romantic relationship in the next book. Thank you so much for taking the time read and review.

Today is another big day.

We are stopping off at Bea’s Book Nook for an interview. Her questions were insightful and I had a lot of fun talking with her. Make sure you stop by and take a look!

TODAY IS THE DAY!

Andromeda Rising - Book CoverI hope everyone is as ready as I am! Three years of work, four months of editing and then a month of polishing it until it shines. Andromeda Rising is here!

Talk Supe is hosting the release party today with a guest spot from our heroine Jocelyn Matthews. Make sure you stop by and pick up a couple of spells she’s offering from her repertoire. I’m very excited to he visiting this blog on my tour as I am a big fan of their site, and am a frequent lurker and occasional commenter. Their reviews are always nicely critical without giving away any spoilers. I rely on them for my new book purchases.

Today is also review day! Beckstar Reviews is always honest with her reviews so I am holding my breath that she likes Andromeda Rising.

It’s been a long time coming my friends and I hope you’ll like taking this journey with me. Andromeda Rising is only the beginning of the adventure, but every trip starts with a single step. And what a step it is…welcome to my world everyone!

I should have been paying attention. Growing up on the run from religious fanatics gave me more than a few good reasons to be careful, but I was just too tired to be as vigilant as I should have been.  My mind was occupied with my latest case—a missing nine year old girl. I was usually good at my job, but sometimes I needed a little extra help from magick. I always managed to track down a cheating spouse or the occasional runaway, but now it seemed more children were missing from the streets of Seattle and nothing I did worked.

A cat jumped on my shoulder and jerked me from my exhaustion induced stupor.  I spun into a defensive crouch only to see the cat had landed on the sidewalk behind me.

Time seemed to stop for a moment when the cat spoke.

RUN!

My name is Jocelyn Matthews and if I live through tonight, I’ll tell you all about my life as a witch.

 Section Break Triqueta

For the past ten years, Jocelyn has been living as a closet witch in Seattle. When the Inquisitors that have been after her from the time she was nine finally manage to find her, Jocelyn is thrust into a world she never guessed existed. From talking cats to Dark Elves, she’ll have to do something she’s never done before: trust someone other than herself. If she wants to find the children that have been going missing all over the city, she’ll have to open her eyes to the bigger picture and find her place, not only for her safety but for the city as well.

Moving Right Along!

Strategy for world domination

Today I’m stopping by Books for Company, a UK blog which I am ecstatic about because one of my very good friends lives there and she is a huge supporter of mine. She threatened me with bodily harm if my book wasn’t available in the UK. Fear not Bertie! Books for Company has agreed to showcase Andromeda Rising and Amazon distributes to England. I’m looking forward to hearing from readers across the pond.

My cat Dave (yes my cat’s name is Dave – he eats the toes of people who think it’s weird) was excited to hear we would be hosted by What the Cat Read. Some fun facts will be dished out over here so make sure you stop by and take a look at this really fun (but dignified – they are cats after all) book reviewing blog.

Don’t forget that each blog is an opportunity to enter to win one of three signed copies of Andromeda Rising! Don’t miss out, visit the daily blogs and enter!

Next Stop!

Today I’m visiting Romance Bookworm’s Reviews. I was over the moon when they signed up to review Andromeda Rising and as the first blog to offer a review I am understandable nervous. I can’t wait to see what they think as their reviews are always honest. Thanks for the support!!

I was also excited to be featured on Urban Fantasy Land as a featured novel. This is a long standing fantasy blog with a wide following and am excited they chose to support me. Thanks so much!

Remember to enter the Andromeda Rising Tour Giveaway! Entries from all the blog stops on the tour will be eligible to win one of three signed copies of Andromeda Rising.

On the Road!!

The virtual book tour for Andromeda Rising is on! For the next two weeks Andromeda Rising is on the road around the world and meeting the people.

First stop is and interview with Paranormal Cravings and then a guest post with Fiction Writing Tools!

I hope everyone enjoys meeting Jocelyn and Mateo for the first time. Thanks to both these great blogs for having me and helping to spread the word about the newest member of the Urban Fantasy genre.

The Countdown is On!

I have just hit send on the email that sent out the Advance Reading Copies of Andromeda Rising to Jena who will then disburse it to the various blogs who have signed on to review my book.  I am a huge bundle of conflicting nerves right now. Excited, nervous, terrified, happy, proud, terrified, scared, terrified…yes I know I used that one more than once.

I can’t seem to help it. After three years of research, thinking, imagining, badly drawn sketches, countless gallons of coffee, two laptops, a dozen trips to the book store for more research materials, brainstorming – and then the editing process which was a whole other kettle of fish, (why would someone keep fish in a kettle? – Nevermind.) complete strangers ARE GOING TO READ MY BOOK!

When I sent my first draft off to Max I was elated. I was finished! Yeah…right. I soon found out that the work begins with editing.

Finally you have someone reading it who has fresh eyes.

All your flaws are exposed.

While I will forever be unworthy of the brilliance of Max, there were times I wanted to reach through the phone and either whack her with a  copy of the Urban Dictionary or hand her a handle of vodka and tell her to chill out. I know which one she would chose.

When you are editing there are a million and one things you never thought of brought into the light and under a microscope. Of course there are all different kinds of editing jobs and every editor has their own style. I could have asked her for a line edit and simply have her correct the punctuation and grammar. I could have then published the significantly shorter book and probably been happy with it. But it wouldn’t be half the book it is now.

Max was patient enough to do a developmental edit with me. This process means that the character and plot line are dissected. Questions are asked about the possible direction of future books, character backgrounds and general descriptions. Every single one of these questions helped me expand and flesh out certain sections or just led to a brain storm that left me with too many ideas to possibly write down before I forgot them. A good editor will be your biggest resource in bringing out your best. Some people may complain that a professional editing job (especially a developmental edit) is too expensive. Maybe it is. But I for one count it as the most invaluable tool I had in writing something I am truly proud of.

That being said, I’m REALLY glad the editing process is over. For now at least.

Stick around. At the beginning of next week I will be announcing the release date for Andromeda Rising.

Virtual Book Tour – Booking up Fast!

Since spots for my virtual book tour opened yesterday, I am officially half booked!

I am overwhelmed by the support the blogging community has shown me so far. Thank you to all the blogs that have signed up so far and the interest you have shown in my book.  I am truly honored and hope you like it once you receive your advanced reading copy.

If you have been contacted about booking a tour stop but have not yet responded, I would urge you to do so quickly. I had no idea that spots would fill up as fast as they are.  Again, I’m honored.

Talk Supe has requested a few spells from our heroine, Joss. Their tour stop is booked for June 1st so make sure you check that out for some teasers and insight into Andromeda Rising.

Once the tour is booked I will be posting the schedule here.

The link to Pure Textuality is on the side bar and will take you directly to the tour booking page. Thanks to Jena at Pure Textuality PR for setting everything up and all her help so far.
