Jocelyn Matthews

Jocelyn 4

Hi! My name is Jocelyn Matthews and I’m a witch. Wow that sounded like an introduction to some support group meeting, didn’t it? Whatever, it’s the truth. Not that everyone knows. I mean I keep a pretty low profile. It’s fairly easy to do living in a big city like Seattle. I’ve lived here for the past eleven years, and it is the most settled I have been my entire life.

Now I am living in a little house I can finally call my own. I have a couple of…well, yes they are friends—although they don’t know everything about me—and a job that I love. I’m an assistant to the owner of MacKenzie Investigations. Assistant may be an understatement. The owner, Jimmy, is an idiot, and while he fumbles around pretending to investigate, I do all the actual work.

I’m the one that follows around cheating spouses and fraudulent employees. I track down leads on stolen valuables and identity theft. But the cases that are near and dear to my heart are the missing children. Kids deserve to be in a loving home with a heap of family members that love them. When they go missing, I go hunting.

Lately there have been more and more of them disappearing off the streets of Seattle, and my best magick is no longer good enough. Plus an old problem has surfaced, and I find myself in the position of being hunted once more. It’s going to take a miracle from the Goddess to get me out of this one in one piece.

Her current case brings her up against something even more sinister than an isolated kidnapping, though. A fanatical religious group is abducting multiple children off the streets of Seattle, the same group who has been hunting Joss since she was 10 years old. […]
